Introduction

The e-Courts project was conceptualized on the basis of the “National Policy and Action Plan for Implementation of information and communication technology (ICT) in the Indian Judiciary – 2005” submitted by e-Committee (Supreme Court of India), with a vision to transform the Indian Judiciary by ICT enablement of Courts. The project envisages deployment of hardware, software and networking to assist District and taluka courts in streamlining their day-to-day functioning. Key functions such as case filing, allocation, registration, case work flow, orders and judgments will be IT-enabled. Cause lists, Case status orders, judgments will be available on the on the web and made accessible to litigants, advocates and general public. The project aims to build a national grid of key judicial information available 24 X 7 in a reliable and secure manner.

Short Messaging Service (better known SMS) has been started which provides instant information regarding the case filling, registration & disposal.

  • Touch Screen Kiosks

The Kiosk facility was inaugurated on 19th May 2012 by the Hon'ble Chief Justice of Gauhati, Hon'ble Mr. Justice A.K.Goel, in the presence of Hon'ble Mr.Justice D.K.Jain, Judge, Hon'ble Supreme Court of India. A litigant can check the status of various stages of his case by entering the case number, party name or case code (18 digit computerized filling number) through touch screen kiosks which have been installed in the corridor of Court buildings.
